Jasper Morrison at new Tate Modern in London

Jasper Morrison at New TATE MODERN

On the occasion of the opening of the new TATE MODERN Switch House designed by Herzog and de Meuron, Nick Serota, Director of the TATE, who previously asked Jasper to furnish the TATE Modern, has invited him to present Thingness exhibition.

Thingness presents a selection of emblematic pieces of Morrison’s work, characterized by lines that are simple yet rigorous.

His concern is to serve function and to be true to the object itself; he prizes comfort, character, functionality, efficiency, economy and “no-nonsense.”  Anything over-complicated, uncomfortable or egocentric irks him, especially when such traits compromise efficiency.

Jasper Morrison celebrates the quiet virtues of thoughtfully designed, unobtrusively styled objects.
