by Alessandro and Giorgio Mendini and Gregori
Between 1987 and 1990, Alessandro Mendini developed the Ollo collection, which was first presented at the international exhibition Documenta 8 in Kassel in 1987, and then in Milan in 1988.
The Ollo designs represent a new form of pictorial design, where Mendini creates a visual alphabet for a wide range of furniture and objects, including rugs, vases, and fabrics produced by Alchimia in limited editions. His approach remains true to his manifesto of redefining objects, drawing inspiration from styles such as Viennese Secession and Art Deco, whilst also seeking to cover the universe with signs through a futuristic vision, namely with the Olimpico motif.
Co-created by Alessandro Mendini and Giorgio Gregori, the “Ollo” coffee table is adorned with Mendini’s infamous pattern in dominant hues of blue, purple and yellow, bordered with graphic black blocks and lines.
